Concussion treatment review
Most people with concussions fully recover with appropriate treatment. The best concussion treatment involves taking as much rest as possible. Since, by definition, concussion does not damage the structure of the brain, the physical examination should be normal. A concussion can be caused by any significant blunt force trauma to the head such as a fall, a car accident, sports injury, or being struck on the head with an object.
Both retrograde and anterograde amnesia usually improve over the space of a few hours. Historically, concussions have been under-reported because there may not be any outwards signs or symptoms of a concussion. The signs of a serious head injury, such as a concussion or epidural hematoma, don’t always appear immediately.
